Creamy cheddar grits meet smoky sausage, seasoned beef, tender shrimp, sweet peppers, onions, and rich pan gravy for the ultimate Southern comfort-food bowl. Every spoonful is loaded with flavor, texture, and a little MooMoo & Butter magic.
Preparation
- 01
Make the Grits: In a large pot, bring the chicken broth and 1 cup heavy whipping cream to a full boil.
- 02
Slowly whisk in the grits.
- 03
Reduce heat to low and cook for approximately 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 04
Once the grits are thick and tender, stir in the butter, cheddar cheese, Tuxedo seasoning, and black pepper.
- 05
Add the remaining 2–3 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and stir until smooth and creamy. Cover and keep warm.
- 06
Make the Dirty Meat & Shrimp Mixture: In a large skillet, cook the sliced smoked sausage until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
- 07
In the same skillet, brown the ground beef.
- 08
Add the diced green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and onion. Cook until softened, about 5–7 minutes.
- 09
Stir in the Holy Trinity and Cajun Cowboy seasonings.
- 10
Return the smoked sausage to the skillet.
- 11
Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well. Cook for 1 minute.
- 12
Slowly pour in the chicken broth while stirring continuously.
- 13
Simmer for 2–3 minutes until a light gravy forms and coats the meat mixture.
- 14
Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring gently, until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove from heat immediately.
- 15
Build the Bowls: Spoon a generous serving of cheesy grits into each bowl.
- 16
Top with the dirty meat, sausage, shrimp, pepper, and onion mixture. Garnish with sliced green onions, chopped parsley, and additional cheddar cheese if desired.
